ILVE Dual Fuel Oven Repair and Servicing in Armidale

Keeping a premium ILVE dual fuel oven performing at its best often requires more than just replacing a single faulty part. During a recent appliance repair in Armidale, we carried out a comprehensive service to restore the cooktop and oven to reliable working order while also completing preventative maintenance to help avoid future issues.

The customer contacted John Crawford Appliance Repairs after experiencing problems with the gas burners failing to ignite consistently and an oven door that was no longer closing properly.

Our inspection found that the cooktop ignition system required a new ignition box, along with replacement microswitches behind each control knob. Over time, grease, oil, and everyday cooking residue can build up inside these microswitches, preventing them from sending the electrical signal needed to produce a spark. The ignition box then distributes that spark to each burner. With both components replaced, all six gas burners are now igniting correctly and operating as they should.

The oven door also required attention. Worn door hinges were preventing the door from sealing properly, affecting both the oven's performance and energy efficiency. After fitting new hinges, the door now closes smoothly and seals correctly.

As part of the service, we also recommended replacing the fan-forced oven element as preventative maintenance. While the existing element was still operating, replacing ageing heating components before they fail can help prevent unexpected breakdowns and maintain even cooking performance.

The oven lamps will also be replaced, and a new lamp cover has been supplied after we discovered that one of the original glass covers had previously been overtightened, causing damage to the threaded section of the glass. The new cover will be fitted during the final stage of the service.
